The cat catches his attention more than the man. He stares at it before his eyes shift to the man when he's spoken to. His expression is neutral, emotionless but there's a tempest behind it. The mask bothers him. The lack of facial cues but he just stares blankly for a moment. His eyes are odd, one pupil larger than the other and the irises faded. It was an outcome of the damage done to his eyes during the torture.
He blinks slowly and then all but rolls his eyes at the person in the mask. His attention leaves him for the cat. That he reaches out to pet while ignoring the human completely.
